My Story

The fashion obsession started with my grandma, Jane Starr. My mom was an addict and not the best role model. Her mother was my Idol. My “home” was total chaos with shag carpet, cigarette butts & parties. My grandparents' home was quiet, beautiful, artistic and serene. The clothes and jewelry took up two rooms. My grandma wore a butterfly pin everyday. She made wallpaper with shopping bags from around the world! I have been inspired by her throughout my life.

In high school, my best friend moved in with the Bunker family. We would wear all sorts of rare and random clothes from their attic. When people would ask where we got them, I would reply, “Bunker’s Attic, it’s an exclusive boutique in Memphis, only cool people know about it”.

I’ve thrifted and collected vintage for years. I started making jewelry in 2007 because I wanted vintage brooches and earrings to be necklaces. I did custom pieces for weddings and then started selling at salons and boutiques.

I started making dresses when I had a dress that I loved but I hated the way the top fit me. I would wear my Iron Maiden t-shirt over it. I decided to sew them together. After I wore the dress that I up-cycled, people would stop me on the street and ask where I got the dress!

Having been a stylist for years, I would always say, “wear it with a band tee”. Seriously, if I had a dollar for every time I said that…

It just makes sense. I love music and I love fashion. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy making it.
